Director Gareth Edwards recently revealed some behind-the-scenes secrets about the film, including a pivotal moment involving Mahershala Ali’s character, Duncan Kincaid. Initially, Duncan was meant to die, but a last-minute decision during post-production changed his fate. Despite the change, the scene of his death was kept in the final cut to maintain the suspense for the audience.
Edwards explained, "We wrote it that way, filmed it that way, and edited it that way, so the audience believed he would die. It was a slight of hand that added to the overall impact of the film."
The decision to keep Duncan alive was met with positive reactions during the premiere in New York City. The audience’s response confirmed that they had made the right choice, and Edwards was relieved to see the crowd’s approval of the twist.
