A motorcyclist died this Sunday after colliding with a truck in Cuesta Barriga, in the Metropolitan Region.
Carabineros personnel arrested the motoristwhich will remain in that state until the Traffic Accident Investigation Section (SIAT) clarifies the responsibilities for the accident.
According to police information, the incident occurred in kilometer 16.5 of the routeheading towards the coast, where the vehicles collided head-on.
«The SIAT is working to determine the corresponding responsibilities and, likewise, the causes» of the accident, said Captain Bárbara Villouta, patrol officer of the Carabineros Transit Prefecture.
He added that «in this sector, especially on weekends, it is quite common for motorcyclists to come in groups to this sector to take routes.»
«Generally, both four-wheeled vehicles and motorcyclists do not respect speed regulations. Here the maximum is 30 kilometers per hour and many times they take curves at more than 100«said the authority.
