In Córdoba, Argentina, he was arrested Agustín O’Ryan who had remained a fugitive from justice since 2022 when he was convicted of crimes of rape and sexual abuse against minors in Curicó, Maule Region.
O’Ryan was sentenced to seven years in prison, however, he escaped and since then his whereabouts have been unknown.
The prosecutor Carmen Gloria Manríquez He indicated that this Wednesday «he will be the subject of a detention control hearing in that country, being detained until the Chilean Prosecutor’s Office achieves his extradition (…) so that he can serve the sentence of seven years of major prison in his degree.» «as the perpetrator of at least two crimes of rape and aggravated sexual abuse of a person over 14 years of age.»
«Agustín O’Ryan Soler’s protection network clearly made this situation difficult and that is why this work took so long, but we have finally managed to capture him,» he explained.
THE EXTRADITION PROCESS
He prosecutor Juan Pablo GlasinovicMeanwhile, he explained that «what follows is your request for extradition. The formal request for extradition must be made within 60 days from the arrest of that person, so we have sufficient time to do so.»
Regarding the process, the prosecutor said that «this always has to do with procedural times. Also with the attitude that the person may havethat is, with the resources that can be used in Argentina, but in any case there is always the possibility that the person agrees to extradition and that could make it more expeditious.»
Thus, he said, «we will have to see what this person does: whether he decides to resort to all instances or agrees to be extradited in a simplified manner.»
Once all the judicial procedures have been completed in Argnetina, the prosecutor added, «the last instance remains in which the Executive Branch must give its approval, but we do not see any inconvenience in that here.»
«We hope, therefore, that In a few months we will have this person here to serve his effective sentence«he highlighted.
During the trial, O’Ryan was under the precautionary measure of total house arrestHowever, when the court sentenced him to seven years in prison he disappeared.
