If you have struggled in a solo expedition in Elden Ring Nighttreign and haven’t had much luck, you’re not alone. Playing Canon is possibly one of the most challenging efforts in the Souls franchise. It is likely that FromSoftware will balance it in the future. No matter which NightFarer you choose for a solo race, you must be at the top of your game to even reach the night lord, let alone defeat him.
On the other hand, I have found much better luck in ELDEN RING Nighttreign’s Solo mode with a night at night thanks to their unique ability to summon spirits to fight by their side. Revenant is a necromancer-type class with a passive ability that automatically resurrects slain enemies. Their main ability allows you to summon one of three unique familiars to fight alongside you. In a solo race, these familiars serve as distractions for many bosses, and with some luck, you can progress in your solo expedition.
Why Revenant is the best nightfarer for solo mode
Revenant’s summons give you breathing room during boss fights
The Revenant Nightfarer is my top choice for a solo race because their summons divert enemy attention, giving you space to breathe. Revenant is a necromancer/invoker class that automatically resurrects enemies during battles, providing you with many useful allies. This effect occurs more frequently in solo mode, as it triggers when Revenant or their familiars deal the final blow to an enemy.
The resurrected enemies not only attack the enemies they’re summoned against but also draw enemy fire.
The second advantage of using Revenant in solo mode is their familiar summons, integral to their character. Revenant can summon three different familiars for combat, one at a time: Helen The Agile Page, Frederick The Burly Cook, and Sebastian The Doting Butler. Each familiar is useful in different situations, providing crucial assistance in a solo race, particularly in drawing aggro away from bosses and other enemies.
Finally, Revenant’s ultimate art, Immortal March, can be extremely useful in solo mode but requires precise timing to avoid death. This skill also triggers a unique ability for the active familiar, adding a strategic layer to gameplay. In my experience, these three Revenant traits offer the best chance of success in a solo expedition, depending on your play style and skill level.
Other recommended nightfarers for solo Nighttreign
Raider and Albacea are viable, while Ironeye and Wylder require more luck
After extensive gameplay on a low server day, I experimented with Raider, Albacea, Ironeye, and Wylder. Raider and Albacea are fun and viable for solo mode but require more skill and luck compared to Revenant. Ironeye and Wylder are also decent options, with success primarily dependent on luck. In my experience, Revenant was the most successful in reaching the Night Lord, despite the challenging fight.
