A plainclothes police officer thwarted a shootout made this monday by four criminals against a woman and her 17-year-old daughter at the junction of Route 78 with Vespucio Sur, in the capital commune of Maipu.
According to police information, The victim was going to drop the minor off at school when she was approached by the group of antisocials.who pointed a firearm at her and tried to get her out of the vehicle.
However, a Carabineros motorcyclist who was on his way to work witnessed the incident and decided to intervene. for which he shot at least seven times against the assailants.
It is presumed that one of the shots hit one of the criminalsand it was confirmed that another of the impacts hit the rear window of the vehicle in which the victim was traveling.
«Some guys got out to try to open the door on the left and right side, with pistol on the right side, (while) in the left corner they put an iron into the car, I think to break the glass,» the victim said.
«While I moved back and forth so that the roosters did not have the stability to get into the car, they could not open it, and suddenly we heard some gunshots and with the girl we crouched down because we didn’t know where they came from and They belonged to a police officer and these roosterswhich started as a shootout,» he added.
CARABINEROS DISCARD EXCHANGE OF SHOTS
Carabineros ruled out that there was an exchange of shots and specified that the official in question was the only one who attacked them.
Likewise, the uniformed police are consulting in the different care centers about the arrival of a person injured by a gunshot to confirm if any of the shots – struck by the police – hit one of the criminals involved.
