Demon Slayer: Castillo Infinity Movie is one of the most ambitious stories of the franchise, with dazzling battles, brutal sacrifices, and long-awaited confrontations between Hashira and the upper moons. However, while Akaza’s presence as the fans’ superior superior moon provided incredible tension, there is a convincing case that another demon would have raised the arch to the state of God.
Why Hantengu would have broken the infinite castle
Hantengu, the upper and misleading upper moon four, possessed unique skills that could have turned the infinite castle into an impossible death trap to conquer. His central ability revolved around being divided into multiple clones, each embodying extreme emotions such as anger, fear, or joy. This forced demon slayers to combat not only a formidable opponent but several overwhelming adversaries simultaneously. Killing the clones was not enough since Hantengu’s main body was small, fragile, and extraordinarily hidden, making him a tactical nightmare to defeat even in open terrain.
Imagine this battle taking place within the infinite castle, where Nakime’s power allowed for constant changes in walls, floors, and perspectives at will. Combined with Hantengu’s elusive main body, this would have created an impossible challenge, forcing Hashira into a battle of resistance they could not win. Every second wasted pursuing clones would only drain their strength, giving Muzan’s forces the advantage. Hantengu was specifically tailored to thrive in the twisting castle, making his absence one of the greatest missed opportunities of the arc.
Why Akaza fell short compared
Akaza, while still an electrifying villain with a tragic background history and brutal combat skills, focused on direct physical combat. His confrontations were tests of strength and endurance rather than cunning survival, which worked against the tone of the arc. Unlike Hantengu, Akaza’s presence did not fully exploit the chaotic and changing battlefield of the infinite castle, turning what should have been a nightmare maze into a relatively standard confrontation.
Hantengu’s inclusion would have pushed Hashira to the edge in a way that Akaza simply could not. Instead of single duels, the slayers would have faced a war of attrition where each wall change could mean losing sight of Hantengu’s hidden body. This constant tension of victory slipping further away could have made the infinite castle the most terrifying chapter in Demon Slayer.
In conclusion, while Akaza delivered emotional blows, Hantengu could have brought the strategic horror that Demon Slayer: Castillo Infinity practically begged for. By excluding him, the series denied fans a villain who could have elevated an already excellent arc into a perfect masterpiece.
