The premiere of Season 3 had all the characteristics of a classic episode, but the execution falls into a context of unnecessary turns and twists. The end of Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 tied all its stories with a well-elaborated arch, but the happy potential forever unrained for the BAU (Behavior Analysis Unit) in the «Swimmer Calculation.» Compared to the high octane openings of the previous stations, Season 3 was a passable but predictable opening that could not offer anything new.
It is true that knowing that Spencer Reid of Matthew Gray Grouble will return in Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3 immediately establishes a higher standard, and perhaps unrealistic, for the Paramount+ Reboot. The anticipation surrounding the guest role evokes the memory of the iconic character even in the most casual spectator, launching the new synchronizations and episodes against the successes favored by the nostalgia of Criminal Minds‘ original race. However, even if each episode is sentenced to simply wait time until Reid returns, «The Calculation of the Swimmer» still loses the brand, even for Evolution metrics.

After a series of bodies appears on the coast of Maryland, Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster), David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), and the rest of the team quickly discover that not everything is as it seems: although the bodies on the ground, the headline, the headline «Swimmer Calculation» (A deep brown spot on the teeth of chlorine exposure) demonstrates that the victims drowned in a residential pool. Of course, an episode of Criminal Minds: Evolution would not be complete without a great approach to Elias Voit (Zach Gilford).
