Star Trek Reveals First Look at ‘Voyager’ Sequel Series Finale
The synopsis promises «one epic, dizzying final moment» for Voyager and its crew, but beyond that, details remain largely under wraps. The miniseries begins right where Journey to the Stars: Voyager left off, with Voyager finally escaping the Delta Quadrant and on a course towards Earth. Homecoming quickly subverts its own title, taking Voyager on a more intense adventure.
The antagonists this time? A returning Species 8472, one of the most notable additions to Trek lore since Star Trek television. Seeking revenge on Janeway and the crew, Species 8472 threatens all of humanity, leaving it to the heroes aboard Voyager to save the day once again if they want to return home.
The conclusion we were all waiting for! One last epic and dizzying moment awaits us with the Voyager crew…
Captain Janeway and her crew are prisoners of Species 8472 on their organic, ever-changing ship, and Voyager is equally trapped in its clutches.
But all is not lost. Imprisoned with them is the rogue Species 8472, who once posed as Starfleet members Boothby and Archer, and are guarding the secret of their escape.
All that now stands between them and their return home is the vengeful captain of Species 8472… and the question of how to open a singularity in Earth’s space.
«Voyager» is a «PS» for the beloved series, but will it have a happy ending?
Star Trek: Voyager: Homecoming Issue #1’s big twist revealed that Species 8742 was posing as familiar humans to lure Janeway and Voyager into a trap. However, now the synopsis of Return #5 makes it clear that the same 8472 members who helped deceive them also «hide the secret» for their survival as Return reaches its apex.
Coverage and requests Return Issues #3 and #4 confirm that the Borg will also be involved in the series, making it a full sequel to one of Star Trek more dramatic arcs, which introduced Species 8472, as well as the iconic Emigrate hero Seven of Nine, who is set to play a major role in the final two issues.
The sequel series began to mixed reviews from fans, while its second issue was notable for bringing back the magic of the classic sci-fi series. With three issues left, the «end» of the comic is in sight and it remains to be determined if Journey to the Stars: Voyager can offer a satisfying postscript to its end.
