He price of cars 0 km It is increasingly further away from the pockets of the majority of Argentines, the result of brutal inflation and the loss of purchasing power. So much so that there are practically no options for sale for less than 20 million pesos, a figure that a large part of the population would not be able to access.
A recurring comment when talking about the price of cars is the difference that exists between the local market and the rest of the world. It is often said that Argentina has very high values. That’s why we take as reference the Toyota Corolla, one of the best-selling cars on the planet, and we compare how much it costs here, in Brazil, in the United States, in Spain and in Japan.
- In Argentina: between 22,430,000 and 29,886,000 pesos, which is equivalent to between 22,542 and 30,000 dollars (blue quote).
- In Brazil: between 148,990 and 181,590 reais, which is equivalent to between 29,798 and 36,318 dollars.
- USA: between $22,050 and $23,500.
- Spain: 30,050 euros, which is equivalent to 32,752 dollars.
- Japan: between 1,990,000 and 2,998,000 yen, which is equivalent to between 13,551 and 20,415 dollars.

The Corolla is a good model for this comparison because it is marketed in almost all countries in the world with similar characteristics in terms of platforms, engines and equipment, despite the fact that there are small differences in the configuration for each market.
This comparison is far from denying how expensive 0 km are in Argentina. Although the Corolla case shows similar prices in dollars against other countries, it must be taken into account what it costs the general public to reach that number with one of the lowest average salaries in dollars in the region.
Furthermore, today in Argentina the cheapest 0 km is achieved for no less than 16,000 dollars (the cheapest is the Toyota Yaris, which starts at $16,855,000), when historically a new “base” car was around 10,000 dollars .
There are only three 0 km cars left for sale for less than 20 million pesos
To buy a 0km In Argentina more than 16 million pesos are already needed. In this context, talking about “cheap” cars sounds contradictory, but at the end of the day there is a list of vehicles that have the lowest (or least high) price on the market.
According to the current official price lists and always based on the value of the base version (the cheapest), this is how the ranking of the 10 most accessible zero kilometers in the country remained.
- Toyota Yaris: from $16,855,000
- Citroen C3: from $19,131,900
- Fiat Cronos: $19,864,000

Due to the few sales, the prices of some 0 km remain unchanged from February to March
He automotive market suffered a very strong drop in sales in the first two months of 2024. The price of 0 km is increasingly further out of the pockets of most citizens. And, therefore, some companies made the decision to freeze the value of your products from February to March.
The two most striking cases of what was said in the first paragraph are the Toyota Hilux and the Nissan Frontier. Both medium-sized pickups manufactured in Argentina, their prices remained unchanged from one month to the next. You have to go back several years to find when was the last time that some 0 km did not increase in price at the start of the new month in a highly inflationary context.
Also, since we are talking about pickups, Ford and Renault decided increase “barely” 5 percent the value of the Ranger and the Alaskan, respectively, also domestically produced models.
