All eyes were on him Luna Parkwhere this Wednesday the president Javier Milei presented his book “Capitalism, socialism and the neoclassical trap.”
From very early on, his followers gathered around the place to get their free tickets. At 8 p.m., the central time, they were already all places occupied and a good number of people had to stay outside.
The deployment of security It was very important from the moment he entered: there were scanners to avoid any serious inconvenience, including hypothetical attacks against the president.
The great deployment of the libertarian apparatus included the mobilization in buses to the event of groups from Hurlingham and San Martín, suburban towns in Buenos Aires. The entrance of Milei’s followers was enlivened by two batucadas, one of them from the Libertador San Martín Group.
Those who entered, including journalists, young people from the organization asked for their DNI and loaded it on their cell phones. La Libertad Avanza feeds its registry ahead of the legislative elections of 2025. Later, the libertarian militants toured the stalls selling the book with a posnet. The value? 27 thousand pesos.
Between 7:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., Daniel Scioli, Patricia Bullrich and Karina Milei, among others, entered. The Minister of Tourism, after several selfies, was located in the special space for the 300 guests, below, close to the stage.
For the Minister of Security there was applause in the audience, something that did not happen with Scioli. Bullrich simply raised a hand to greet. However, the applause gave the winner to the general secretary of the Presidency, the one most celebrated by the audience.
While waiting for the main event, the guests started rounds of conversation. Guillermo Francos, Scioli and Eduardo Serenellini starred in one of the most lively.
Minutes before 9 p.m., the band was on stage and a singer sang “Panic show,” to liven up the wait.
After a second topic, there was silence and a shofar was blown. It was the announcement of Milei’s entry among her followers. In the background, La Renga’s theme again, more strident than ever. Milei made a similar entry at the campaign event at the Movistar Arena. The same fervor although that time there were almost twice as many people.
Deputy Bertie Benegas Lynch, the group’s drummer, welcomed Milei, in a leather overcoat, on stage. Then it was the turn of the speech.
Chicanas and an extensive economic “theory class”
As soon as he took his position at the lectern he made his first chicane: thanks to the Book Fair and the Kirchnerists: “The boycott of the Kirchnerists gave us this party.”
It should be noted that the presentation of his work was going to take place at the Book Fair, but the relationship with the directors of the El Libro Foundation was not the most pleasant and Milei warned that there could be a boycott on the day of his event, so who preferred not to do it there. That’s when plan b emerged: Luna Park.
Insults to Cristina Kirchner and Pedro Sánchez from the public followed. The president would have wanted to join in the cry, as he said, but he acknowledged that he already has “quite a few quilombos.”
Going to the core of the meeting, the “economic theory class” as Milei defined it, lasted more than 50 minutes.
At 10:12 p.m., presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni entered the scene – to much applause. He occupied the same lectern as Milei. “If we are here it is because we are fed up with socialism,” Adorni said.
Adorni introduced José Luis Espert and invited him to occupy one of the three chairs located on the stage. “The greatest exponent of freedom in the world, despite whoever he may be,” Adorni presented to Milei who returned to the stage to talk with her interlocutors.
For the second part, we began to see the frank withdrawal of many guests, especially officials, but also the public. It happened that the event took a while to start and, after 10:30 p.m., considering the weekday as well, it became tedious for a good part of the attendees.
