A man of Colombian nationality was arrested for flagrant crime of smuggling of migrants in the border area between Chile and Peru.
The Investigative Police reported that his arrest was made by detectives from the Arica Human Trafficking Investigative Brigade «within the framework of a deployment operation between milestones 4 and 7 of the border».
Based on the analysis and investigation of the routes used by criminal organizations dedicated to this crime and other related crimes, officials detected a man and a woman trying to enter national territory through an unauthorized sector.

«After various efforts, it was established that The man who accompanied this woman was the one who had captured her in the city of Tacna, at the bus terminal from that city (Peruvian), where he had offered the service of crossing it illegally into our country in exchange for a payment of «20 soles»; that is, about 4,800 Chilean pesos,» explained the subprefect Juan Santelices, head of the Britrap of the PDI Arica.
The Colombian was placed at the disposal of the Arica Guarantee Court.
