The political scene in Araucania region is in dispute ahead of the elections for the October Regional Government next, where Chile Vamos and Republicans support the current Governor Luciano Rivaswhile Evópoli and Amarillos for Chile have not yet been defined.
Rivas is seeking reelection to office this year with broad support from the right, however, President Evópoli Gloria Hutt -visiting the region- He pointed out that as a party his support has not yet been defineddue to the connection with the investigation into the agreements case.
The words of Sebastián Piñera’s former Minister of Transportation did not go down very well in the sector.
Therefore, the Senator Carmen Gloria Aravena (Republicans) pointed out that «it seems even more serious to me that the name of the former deputy Andrés Molina (Evópoli)when there has been no agreement, that deputy can corroborate it.
«We are surprised that a name is being thrown around on the brink of an election. I don’t know what the point is in confusing our voters today, to our sector, which is the majority,» said the parliamentarian.
For his part, the deputy Miguel Mellado (RN) indicated that «it is very bad class to present an alternativewhen all of us are behind the candidacy of Governor Luciano Rivas, who has all the merit of all the parties that have supported him and will continue to support him for his re-election.»
DOUBTS IN YELLOWS
Not only Evópoli is in this situation, but also Yellow for Chile -which is also carrying candidates for mayors and councilors-, which confirmed that They still do not have a letter for the position of the Regional Government of La Araucanía.
However, the deputy and president of the community, Andrés Jouannet, I affirm that «What is clear is that we are not going to support any candidate for governor linked to the current Government (of President Gabriel Boric). Therefore, the alternatives are obviously few but we are going to support a candidate for governor of this region.»
Luciano Rivas would be running with the support of the right and competing with the former deputy Rene Saffiro (exDC), who announced his candidacy as independent after gathering signatures.
Meanwhile, from the ruling party there is still no official definition that announces support for the former deputy or another candidate.
