A 45-year-old man, whose initials are SAS, was held in preventive detention, to whom crimes committed in contexts of gender violence to the detriment of different victims in Lehmann, San Vicente and Rafaela (the three towns belong to the Castellanos department) were attributed.
In a hearing that took place in the Rafael courts, Judge Nicolás Stegmayer ordered the precautionary measure without deadlines. The measure was imposed following the request made by the prosecutor of the Gender, Family and Sexual Violence Section (GEFAS) of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office 5, Gabriela Lema.
The MPA official explained that “the man with the initials SAS is being investigated for crimes against a multitude of women: three ex-partners and his sister,” and added that “he was also accused of having intimidated a man who is the current partner of one of the victims with whom he had romantic ties.”
sexual abuse
Lema pointed out that “the man who was detained attacked the physical integrity of one of his ex-partners in a house in Lehmann where she lives,” and explained that “after arguing and hitting her in different parts of her body, he abused her.” sexually».
On the other hand, he said that «on another occasion when the victim was in a home in Rafaela taking care of his minor niece, the accused suddenly appeared.» He indicated that he “threatened her to retaliate against her family if she did not tell him which other man she was having a relationship with,” and stressed that he “sexually assaulted her again.”
“At the same time, the 45-year-old man is being investigated for entering his ex-partner’s home in Lehmann without permission and assuring her that, if he went to prison because she reported him, he would kill her once he regained his freedom,” said the prosecutor.
Beating
The prosecutor stated that “the accused physically attacked another ex-partner in a house located in San Vicente,” and highlighted that “with the beating, he caused minor injuries.”
Threats
Lema specified that «the man with the initials SAS is also being investigated for a violent situation that took place in the house of another woman who was his partner, located in Rafaela,» and added that «after hitting the door forcefully, he began to insult and threaten the victim.”
Money
“In a Rafael property where his parents reside, the man investigated attacked his sister with his fist and demanded money in exchange for him not taking her life,” he stated.
The prosecutor pointed out that «as a result of his violent behavior, the accused was imposed with a court order excluding him from the home and prohibiting contact, which he deliberately violated.»
Text messages
Lema also indicated that “the defendant was accused of having sent intimidating text messages to a man who is the current partner of a woman with whom he had a relationship.” He specified that “through the social network Messenger, he told him he was going to attack him with blows.”
Procedural dangers
The MPA official stated that “the judge analyzed the probability of authorship and the materiality of the facts based on the evidence we presented.” Meanwhile, she assessed that «by virtue of the legal classification, the plurality of criminal acts that are investigated and the violence displayed, the magistrate maintained that the expected sentence is one of effective execution.»
The official also stressed that «the procedural risks were considered, since the victims and witnesses for the prosecution are in a vulnerable situation due to the constant harassment that the accused carried out against them to avoid being reported.»
Finally, he mentioned that «on previous occasions, the investigated person was imposed alternative measures to the preventive detention that he failed to comply with,» and added that «although the Defense requested this type of precautionary measure again, the judge rejected its request.»
Criminal classification
The Prosecutor’s Office accused the 45-year-old man of being responsible for the crimes of sexual abuse with repeated sexual assault, aggravated minor intentional injuries (due to gender violence), coercion, repeated simple threats, violation of the home, and repeated failure to comply with the legal mandate.
