Google just released a new security feature that allows share usernames and passwords with the family group. The option had been rumored a few months ago and confirmed in February. What changes now, with the official rollout, and what are the advantages of this feature?
Google now allows you to share passwords with family: everything you need to know
Password sharing begins its journey in Google Password Manager, the browser’s signature key manager. This update allows “socialization†to access various services with the people with whom digital spaces are shared. For example, to access Netflix, Spotify or YouTube Premium, to name a few possibilities among the many.
Google mentions other convenient use cases. For example, for parents to access the homework platform their children use. What changes? Instead of updating each password manager, sharing this happens automatically within the group.
“With this new feature, you can now securely share your passwords with your family group in Google Password Manager. By doing so, members will receive a copy in their admin, ready to use,” explains an official support page.

The example of the homework platform is a clear example of the underlying intention of this novelty in Google services. Although, in general terms, it facilitates shared access for the entire family group; here we find more parental controls to which to lay hands.
