Spider-Man: New Day apparently reveals that the story created for Scorpion will continue when the villain returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland’s upcoming Spider-Man movie is shaping up to be one of the biggest events in the franchise in recent years, thanks to its star-studded cast.
In addition to Holland, Sadie Sink from Stranger Things will reportedly be the female lead in the 2026 MCU film, although her role is still a mystery. Jon Bernthal and Mark Ruffalo are said to be returning as Punisher and Hulk, respectively, with various villains confirmed or rumored for the film, including Michael Mando’s Scorpion, who returns to fulfill a long-awaited storyline.
Michael Mando’s Scorpion seems to finally be fulfilling an 8-year MCU tease
Michael Mando made his MCU debut as Mac Gargan in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. After being thwarted by the hero, the villain was last seen in prison, where he questioned Michael Keaton’s Vulture about Spider-Man’s secret identity. However, Vulture never disclosed Peter Parker’s identity to Gargan, and Scorpion has not been seen in the MCU since then.
Fortunately, the character is confirmed to return to the MCU in 2026, with new Spider-Man: New Day set photos revealing Scorpion’s comeback. While the images don’t depict Mac Gargan in his Scorpion suit from the comics, which fans are eager to see, they hint that the MCU movie will resolve a storyline from 2017.
In the new Spider-Man: New Day set photos, it appears that Michael Mando’s Scorpion could be escaping from prison, continuing the narrative of wanting to discover Spider-Man’s identity to harm him.
