Having been long thought dead, the people of New York are shocked to see the billionaire return — and perhaps even more shocked as they watch him uncover and fight the corrupt world around him. A modern story with plenty of classic action, Iron Fist boasts an entertaining plot that never loses its pace and a cast of young actors with a point to prove. This surprisingly poignant Primetime Emmy-winning series follows Oscar Isaac as Steven Grant, a charming and inoffensive man who works at a gift shop. After finally realizing he has dissociative identity disorder (DID), Grant discovers he is sharing his life with one Marc Spector, a mercenary with a life almost completely the opposite of Grant’s. Not only that, but in a wholly unexpected twist, Spector is the embodied avatar of an Egyptian God. On many levels, Moon Knight is a success, with its all-out action and penchant for horror making for heaps of entertainment and the discussion of DID and exploration of Egyptian mythology providing an educational series that never feels like it’s preaching. – Jake Hodges

However, unlike many other heroes who want to rid the world of evil, in this series, Hawkeye, a.k.a Clint Barton, is just trying to return home for Christmas, with the pain suffered by the onslaught of villains in his way nothing compared to the love he holds for his family — a simple sentiment universally shared. Brimming with great performances from the likes of Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, Hawkeye is a beautiful blend of warm Christmas cheer and typical Marvel badassery. Tense, smart, and always gripping, Jessica Jones is a winding adventure that breathes new life into a perhaps saturated genre. This series’ success can be boiled down to its consistently smart scripts in the hands of a host of talented actors. ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ (2013 – 2020)

One of the MCU’s longest-running series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D directly follows the Battle of New York in the climax of the first Avengers movie. Starring Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, a wide-eyed population is now aware of the existence of superheroes, leading to the formation of this titular covert team to tackle some of the world’s trickiest cases. Impressively, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, despite beginning at a time when series of this nature were not offered the same financial resources they are now, still holds up against its contemporaries thanks to a plethora of neat action set-pieces and intelligently used CGI. Energetic and full of endearing characters, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D more than earned its impressive seven-year run, with some even calling for more. – Jake Hodges

With the villainous underbelly of the Big Apple quietly thriving, The Punisher makes it his mission to rid the streets of evil; however, his expectations begin to unravel when a conspiracy larger than he could have ever imagined emerges. Certainly more mature than many other MCU series, The Punisher showcases one of its more underrated characters in an environment that lets him, and Bernthal, thrive. Unlike other shows of this nature, The Punisher feels much more grounded in reality, with a set of episodes that can often tonally feel straight out of a gutsy police drama. – Jake Hodges
