In the middle of the second national strike summoned by the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) against the government of Javier Milei, The business entities expressed their rejection of the force measure which will take place this Thursday, May 9.
The Argentine Chamber of Commerce (CAC), AmCham -which represents United States companies that operate in Argentina-, the Hydrocarbon Trade Confederation (Cache) and the Federation of Transport Companies (Fadeac) These are some of the entities that spoke out against the strike.

“The entity respects the right to strike enshrined in the Constitution, but considers that the announced measure is unjustified and for the rest untimely†, they pointed out from the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC).
In that sense, they added: “The measures included in the Bases Law projectparticularly those in labor matters, they cannot serve as a justification for the announced strike. In addition to the fact that a labor modernization will favor the generation of employment – and, therefore, it would not have to generate opposition among those who must ensure the interests of the workers – it should be noted that the current project foresees quite limited changesmuch less ambitious than those proposed in the original text, so a fierce opposition is difficult to understand.
Another of the statements against unemployment was made by Argentine Federation of Freight Motor Transport Business Entities (Fadeeac) who considered “inexplicable and inappropriate the national strike called by the CGT†.
“The measure generates a great frustration in the thousands of SMEs those represented by the 43 transport chambers that make up the Federation.” And they pointed out that the sector suffers an average drop of 40% in activity and accumulated a cost increase of 297.8% in the last 12 months.
“Despite this, the companies associated with the Federation (around 80% of the transport SMEs in Argentina) accepted face the salary recomposition, as requested by the union,” FADEEAC said in a statement.

“Our actions must be aligned with the social and economic situation of Argentina,†they indicated in AmCham through a statement. “We understand the right of workers to demonstrate through available legal mechanisms, but What is criticizable is the opportunity to repeat the second national strike in four months of a democratically elected government.â€they pointed out.
“We think that paralyzing the economy for one day only aggravates the situation. It is estimated that Every day of unemployment causes losses that would amount to US$41.5 billion dollars†AmCham noted. And they warned that the strike “puts jobs at risk. Every dollar lost in a strike is one less dollar to invest in health, education, infrastructure and social programs that we need so much.”
Along the same lines, the Confederation of Hydrocarbon Trade Entities of Argentina (CECHA) reported that They will not adhere to the measure of force scheduled by the CGT for this May 9.
Therefore, “all service stations of the country associated with the different federations and chambers that make up this Confederation will work normally to supply the fuel that the general public requires,” they clarified.
Likewise, they closed: “We respect the right to strike, but we understand that employees have the necessary means so that through the joint agreements current workers can find democratic solutions to their true labor demands.”
