In the municipality of Popayán, Colombia, Dayonis Junior Orozco Castillo, 30 years old and of Venezuelan nationality, was arrested this Tuesday, suspected of being the author of the shots with which Carabineros Major Emmanuel Sánchez was murdered in Chile on the night of last 10 of April.
It was believed to be in Ecuador, but it was finally found on Colombian soil, specifically in a bus terminal. According to the information of the Chilean Prosecutor’s Office, he left our country through an irregular route towards Bolivia, from where he then continued his way by land through Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, presumably with the intention of reaching Venezuela.
«It is a pride to have contributed to justice being done for the cowardly crime of our Chilean police officer,» said General William Salamanca, chief of the Colombian Police, who after the capture proceeded to carry out the respective signing of the suspect and left him at the disposal of the local Prosecutor’s Office to begin the extradition procedures to Chile.
The accused, who had been formalized in absentia for the murder, maintains a second identity with the name of Yendris Segundo Paz Pérez and has a Chilean RUT, two Venezuelan DNI and one Colombian ID. «Those who commit crimes in our country have to know that we are going to follow them and find them, whether within our borders or outside them,» warned President Gabriel Boric.
