This Thursday, May 9, a general strike organized by the CGT (General Confederation of Labor of the Argentine Republic) throughout the country against the government of Javier Milei. Various unions supported the entity’s decision and will join the protest.
In this framework, the Confederation of Hydrocarbon and Related Trade Entities of the Argentine Republic (CECHA) announced that service stations they will work normally.

What are the services that do not work this Thursday, May 9, due to the general strike of the CGT
- Public transportation: including buses, trains and subways will not work. The UTA bus union, the Fraternity of railway workers and the underground AGTSyP confirmed their support.
- Airports: Suspension of flights, affecting both domestic and international travel.
- Maritime and land transport: paralysis of port activities and truck logistics services.
- Banks: All financial entities will remain closed, without attention to the public, due to the support of La Bancaria.
- Supermarkets and shopping centers: It is expected that large chains will not work this Thursday, since the Argentine Federation of Commerce and Services Employees (FAECyS) will adhere to the measure. UTHGRA (Hotels and restaurants) is also folded.
- Education: public schools and universities without activities, since CTERA ratified their membership. In addition, the state ATE and UPCN also join.
- Health: Hospitals and clinics will operate only with emergency services, without regular care, covering minimum guards, since the Health union adheres to the general strike. Scheduled operations would be rescheduled.
- Industry: paralysis in several industrial sectors, with the FTIA (Food), UOM (Metallurgical), SMATA (Mechanical), Light and Power and Sanitary Works unions.
