Roach credited much of the success of Theo and Ivy’s dynamic to McNamara’s script and the performances of the stars, adding his own style to the film. He highlighted the importance of the food dispute in the story, using it as a metaphor for the breakdown of relationships.

También sabíamos que no podía ser la Guerra de las Rosas original. Danny DeVito hizo un gran trabajo con eso y no íbamos a intentar competir con eso. En cambio, intentamos ir en una dirección diferente y tratar sobre dos personas que intentan resolverlo, pero al final se han desviado completamente.
