Miguel Flores is the Chief of Amaicha del Valle. This obligatory stop on the Calchaquí Valley route is located at km 116 of route 307, 160 km from the capital of Tucumán. Flores commented that “on the route you can see the sign that says “Welcome to the best microclimate in the world.” And he’s not lying: this indigenous community is blessed with a climate recognized worldwide for its health benefits, especially those related to bones and respiratory tract. Flores highlighted that “Amaicha means “quiet meeting, quiet place where people attend”, people for whom the community waits with the doors always open.” He explains that «Amaicha is prepared, as always, mainly by preparing the most important services, such as water, and the accessibility of the roads. That the visitor can appreciate what is ours, what is related to our uses, customs, which we pour into festivals, for example, the pre-Pachamama festival in January and the National Pachamama Festival that takes place for carnival, the first fortnight of February, with varied musical and gastronomic proposals.”
He continued saying that “those who visit Amaicha will be able to see the “Los Zazos Waterfall”, of impressive landscape beauty, “they will also be able to enjoy the Dique del Remate, the Salinas, the Amaicha and Ampimpa rivers, the Pachamama Museum, unique in the region both for its spectacular architecture and for its historical content, on Route 307 is the renovated Community Winery and walking through the town you will find other small wineries of home-made and artisanal production, in all of them you can taste and purchase the wines of the Valley. He recalled that in “the main square we have the permanent craft fair, with free, open-air shows for the whole family. We are also reconditioning the Parador Cardón Abuelo, so that it becomes a tourist information center, where you will find everything you need for horseback riding, excursions and more.”
He announced that “special attention is being paid to constantly expanding and improving hotel availability, always maintaining the best prices in the region.
