Sergio Lapegüe shared an emotional personal moment with the guests at the program table Having lunch with Juana (eltrece). The journalist’s mother has Alzheimer’s and the topic was raised after dinner by the play “In Other Words,” starring Gimena Accardi, who shared part of the plot of the production.
In the middle of that talk, Juana Viale, host of the cycle, asked Sergio: “What’s wrong with Lape?”

“My mom has that and it was incredible what happened to us this week, because she is already in a very advanced period. The physical deterioration is very strong and for the family it is very painful. I visit her every day,” she explained.
“I’m going to shake her hand, she’s going off. So She looks, the caregivers put the TV on for her and she sees me and says “Sergio,” she says. But I go home at noon and he doesn’t recognize me,» he added. Despite the progression of the disease, Lapegüe shared that there is still a family intimacy that his mother still remembers.
A family connection
Although the journalist told how painful it is that his mother does not remember him. He shared an anecdote from the intimacy of his family. “It’s tremendous, it’s a strong blow. But a few days ago she was unwell. She was angry. So I said: I’m going to play the piano. The piano where I played as a kid; She was a pianist too,” she said.
“I started playing the piano. And I asked the caregivers to take her because she can’t walk. They put it in front of me and suddenly ‘Sergio’ tells them the caregivers. And I cried inconsolably. Because I realize that she is looking at me,” the journalist explained excitedly.

“Then I look at her and she makes me (the wave gesture), because she came to see my shows. Because she meant music transports, connects, and she recognized me through music”, he concluded.
