He Internal Revenue Service (SII) filed a complaint against the mayor of Rancagua, Juan Ramón Godoy (ex-PS)for alleged tax crimes committed during his administration and that They reach a tax loss of more than 474 million pesos.
In detail, the judicial action is against Godoy and two other people – company representatives – who are accused of the completed and repeated crimes of corruption, falsification or malicious use of private documents, tax fraud and falsification or malicious use of public documents.
The accusation details that Godoy, in the exercise of his powers, «arbitrarily favored certain taxpayers through various acts«, among them the «fragment purchasesdividing them to circumvent the regulations on public purchases; awarding multiple contracts via direct treatment without justificationn; not charge fines for non-compliance; make publications for shorter deadlines of tenders and pay some companies for works not executed«.
«Especially, arranged for contracts to be awarded to certain persons, like the also accused Javier Cornejo and Diego Barba, or their companiesopenly benefiting them in exchange for gifts or payments received,» the letter states.
As reported by the SII representation, the tax damage caused by these three people amounts to the sum -updated as of March 2024- of 474,356,138 pesoswhich is framed in crimes that occurred between 2021 and 2023.
