The “cash with liquid” advanced 5.8% and closed at $871.33. The informal exchange rate jumped to $950. The parallels dragged several weeks of calm.

The Cash with Settlement dollar (CCL) rose almost $50 yesterday and once again exceeded the price of the MEP, which advanced to a lesser extent than the exchange rate that companies use to transfer foreign currency abroad. This happens in a political and economic context marked by uncertainty regarding the open result of the runoff.

The CCL dollar rebounded 5.8% to $871.33 and the spread with the official one stood at 149%. In this way, it once again exceeded the MEP price, which rose $22.33 (2.7%) to $863.30 and the gap with the official price reached 146.7%.

It should be noted that in October, the MEP rose $151.84 (21.7%), while the CCL rose only $42.61 (5.2%). The financiers had risen strongly before the first round, which had Javier Milei as the favorite (who proposes a dollarization of the economy), and they fell after the election, which left Sergio Massa as the most voted.

Meanwhile, the blue dollar yesterday recorded its biggest rise since the day after the general elections, jumping $60 and closing at $950. Thus, the gap with the official dollar was 171.5%.

Gustavo Quintana, from PR Operadores de Cambio, pointed out that, in part, the rise in the blue dollar may be the product of a higher level of activity, after previous days with little business. “I believe that the market is recovering from the previous falls and is once again approaching the levels most similar to those prior to the general elections. However, you should never draw conclusions for a couple of days, the trend is seen with a somewhat longer horizon,” he added.

In this context, the Central Bank made purchases for US$34 million in the exchange market, so so far this month it has exceeded US$130 million. In the last 13 rounds, it has purchased more than US$750 million.
