20 years ago, Juan Carlos Baglietto starred in a successful musical version of The little Prince. Now, with a new cast, he returns to the Corrientes Street with the same renewed project together with his sons Julián and Joaquín, and accompanied by big names of national musical artists.
This time, on his own initiative Juan Carlos Baglietto (who wanted to act again and at the same time do it with his children) this new version of The little Prince, the musical. The legendary musician takes on the role of Saint Exupery (the aviator in the story), his son Joaquín (who played him in the Netflix series Love After Love) in the character of the Businessman and his other son Julián ( who has played in Baglietto-Vitale’s band for years) in charge of the composition and musical direction of the entire work.
This project, now familiar, proposes a version of the classic that navigates contemporary shores, from the musical and the performative: Walasthe leader of Massacre, will step into the shoes of the character of the King, being his first foray into a theater musical. The freestyler Zainaone of the last figures to emerge from the cockfights, plays Vain and contributes a song of his own to the play’s repertoire, in a joint work with Julián Baglietto.
For your part Flor Otero, who had been part of the cast in that version two decades ago, will now play the character of the Serpent. The Little Prince will be played by the young man Luis Rodríguez Echeverría, assuming his first leading role. The cast is completed with the young Valentina Podium in the role of the Flower, Carlos Merch like the Drinker and Roberto Catarineu like the fox.
The direction is by Eduardo Gondell, who directed the musical in its previous version and who has won awards such as the Goya, the Estrella de Mar, the Florencio Sánchez and the Platinum Award throughout his career (see bio below ). The work is a co-production by José Luis Massa, owner and founder of Club Media, Aleph Media, by Fernando Soko, and Carlos Mentasti.
This new version of The little Prince will have a staging that includes a 14-meter-long Ultra HD LED screen, never before mounted for a show in the Opera Theater. Furthermore, the costumes and characterization of the characters reflect meticulous, high-level work that accompanies the updated imprint of the entire project.
