Marvel Introduces the Most Dangerous Mutant in X-Men History
Marvel just released requested information for the next Dungeons of Doom #2. After the defeat of Doctor Doom in the epic A World Under Perdition, his ancient palace is being ransacked by his rivals, both heroic and villainous. Doom’s warehouses contain new secrets that are appearing in Marvel history, including Asgardian weapons, mystical artifacts, and «A mutant creature so dangerous that even Charles Xavier knew it could never be released.»
The Dungeons of Doom Opens Just in Time for X-Men’s Shadows of Tomorrow
Xavier’s Last Secret is the Most Dangerous Mutant in the World

The issue’s summary names artifacts that will apparently affect the story of Moon Knight, Black Panther, Thor, and the X-Men, with Dungeons of Doom likely launching each item into the broader Marvel canon. Given X-Men as the ‘Shadows of Tomorrow’ era is about to begin, it looks like the X-Men will face an all-time mutant threat just as they begin to get back together after the disastrous fall of Krakoa.
Is This the Return of Code-X?

At this point in Marvel history, Charles Xavier is guilty of a batch of dark deeds, from enslaving the alien AI known as Danger to erasing all memories of his secret second roster of X-Men. Now, Dungeons of Doom will apparently reveal that the former leader of the X-Men worked with Doctor Doom to imprison a dangerous mutant, something that sounds a lot like the forgotten «Codex» initiative.
Xavier’s Dark Secrets Unveiled

Introduced in X-Statix #1, Code-X is a secret initiative in which the mental stability of mutants whose powers make them especially dangerous is tested, and if they fail, they are secretly killed. With hints that the initiative was approved by Xavier, the issue implies that the X-Men founder has a policy of quietly killing mutants who would harm human-mutant relations.
Xavier’s Controversial Actions

Therefore, it is not out of place for Xavier to have detected a dangerous mutant and left him at the mercy of Doom. However, it would have taken a batch to make him an ally with the villain. To turn to Doom, Xavier would have needed to be convinced that his own X-Men and his allies in the Illuminati couldn’t keep the mutant threat contained, suggesting he has mutant power greater than anything fans have seen so far.
As a new era begins, another of Xavier’s dirty secrets has come back to bite them, this time in the form of the most dangerous mutant Marvel fans have yet seen.
Dungeons of Doom #2 will arrive on February 18, 2026.
