The Municipality of Santiago evacuated this Friday a heritage house located on the corner of Abate Molina with Claudio Gay, which remained taken by homeless people.
The aforementioned house was left with various structural failures after the 2010 earthquake, and also has suffered several fires, the last two in 2023. The house has been evacuated on several occasionsbut it is taken again some time later.
Although this address It is not included in the list of recovery operations by the municipality of Santiago, was evicted because corresponds to a future housing plan for social housing.

In this regard, from the Municipality They reported that «this is a municipal property, which is a project that has been dragging on for more than 10 years. «There have been permanent evictions of people who come to spend the night here at this property, since countless times the municipality has boarded up this propertybut homeless people are entering again,» they added.
The people who were inside the home They were relocated with relatives, and to those who had no one to stay with, the municipality offered psychosocial help, the opportunity to find work, among other assistance.
Nevertheless, The occupants were quite upset with the operation and assured that they will return because it is not the first time they have been evicted.so the municipality carried out a more robust closure of the property and installed security cameras to monitor that it is not taken again.
Likewise, there will be constant patrols by Carabineros to ensure that the home is not taken again.
